Games back then. . .

When I was a little girl...I would play Chinese Checkers with mom on a board just like this one. A few years back I found this board at an antique store...I had to have it!

We enjoy playing it with our grandchildren.

Hubby got this game board for Christmas when he was a young boy.

He has most of the orginal playing pieces and instruction booklet. At Christmas this board often comes out and games of Crokinal are played. It brings back memories of the Christmas' past when he played with his grandpa, dad and friends.

Thankful # 2

November 8th...my oldest Grandson's birthday. I remember the day he was born so well!! He was born early in the morning. I still remember driving to the hospital. I spent the whole day just holding him! He was my first grandchild...born to my first born!

This year he turned 17.

I always wanted to be home for my grandchildren's birthdays....but as it worked out this year we were south.

Thankfully his family took a little holiday, close to where we were and we were able to celebrate his day with him!

My daughter made yummy subs and we had lunch together.

The men went for a round of golf!

The women visited by the lake and watched the waterplay!

We all went out for supper...

Grandson has his cake complete with 17 candles!

I am to tell you SEVEN things about myself . . .

1. I have had many nicknames...Bennie, Pep, Bamms

2. In grade 1 - I accelerated - (meaning I did 3 years of schooling in 2 years).

3. We didn't get a TV until I was 8 years old.

4. When I was 8 years old I broke my leg ice skating.

5. In 1970 I went to Japan to the World Expo by myself.

6. I do not like to fly and find any excuse not to fly!

7. I swifer my floors at least once a day...sometimes twice.

Weekend in Arizona

Friday night we had rain. We have never experienced rain here before. Man when it rains...it pours. Saturday morning the air was fresh and the sun was shining! We looked for second hand bikes, but discovered we could buy new ones for less than second hand, so we walked 3 miles to pick them up.
We enjoyed a Christmas Latte from Starbucks...with Christmas Music!! (It amazes me how early they start the Christmas Music in the USA!)

We even bought helmets...

We visited a few Goodwill stores and picked up a picture for our new home. It cost a total of $4.00.

Saturday night...I think Arizona is one of the few states that does not have a time change...but I could be corrected on that! So we missed out on an extra hour of sleep:)

Sunday morning we went to the 'Church in the Park'.

It is a wonderful informal gathering of many people from parks all over Yuma!

We spent the afternoon visiting a few of the Local Markets.

We are fortunate to be able to walk to two of the markets in the City! We were looking for bike baskets for our bikes but came home without them.

We did find a Vendor selling second hand books at great prices. I picked up some Hardy Boys Books. Hopefully the grandson's haven't read them...but for the price, we had to get them. They were $2.00 each.
