Time to start planting

A Sunny day in February...was the perfect day to plant some seeds!

A few weeks later….won’t be long and I’ll need to transplant them.

Seeds

My seeds arrived!

Last year was the first year I started my own Tomatoes, Peppers and some annual flowers! Soon I’ll start them and try a few new things like celery 🤔 I’ve never grown celery so we’ll see how it goes.

Fresh from the Garden

I only dug carrots as I needed them thus fall.I had purchased carrots on sale a couple months ago and still had some of ours  in the ground. Today I needed more carrots dug and I’m thinking they are looking pretty good... we even got an onion as a bonus .

I know it's early...

To early to be putting annuals outside.
I usually wait until the weekend after the long weekend,
before I even buy my annuals!!!
I have lost so many flowers over the years,
buying them to soon..... as you can be sure...
that we will get snow and a killer frost sometime in May....
But spring has taken so long in coming.....
I had to buy a few...
To brighten my outside little 'living area'!!

Yard work...

The hard spring yard work is done.
The Raspberry Patch was full of Quack Grass...
and bushes were growing wild.
Hubby dug up wayward plants and pulled all the grass he could,
(I hope I get Raspberries this year??) (Click for last years crop)
The leaves are starting to turn green...
The strawberries  are flowering...

It looks like we could have a good crop of apples...
Our granddaughter visited...
she's 4...
She said to her dad...
There's flowers on the tree...
There's suppose to be apples...
 Isn't it amazing...
these beautiful blossoms...
Will turn to apples!
I love this time of year...when the weather has finally warmed...
the leaves are out and everything starts coming back to life!

Fall Display

Fall has arrived. We have had THE Frost that kills most of the flowers and plants. Most of the leaves are off the trees. But yesterday was one of those fall days, the sun was hot, there was no breeze, so I went out to finish off some fall clean-up.
I was amazed at the flowers that have survived this late in October.
My Aster plant is flourishing  . . .

And teaming with bees....

I had my camera on Macro...and had to take pictures of all the surviving flowers...

Snow in Summer
Petunia

My last Rose

Clematis vine
One of my last flowering pots
Those pansy love growing in my patio.
New little yarrow starting to bloom
Well its was  nice to find those blooms...
but on my morning walks when I hear the crunch of the leaves...
I know what is around the corner...

Pumpkin Patch

After a couple nights of frost,
it was time to bring in the pumpkins.
So the grandkids when out to the 'Pumpkin Patch'
(such as it was, the frost had taken care of the plants!)

The pumpkins were still looking good!

Four fair sized pumpkins were picked!
One was almost totally orange....
yes pumpkins start out green...
then turn orange.
(Our season is just too short to get them big and orange:)

And there was even a Pumpkin Head!

This Pumpkin Head and her brother have started a blog.
 'The Variety Tree'
 . . .Check it out!....
(click on the above)

They will be sure to have some interesting posts!

An Apple a Day. .

We have two apple trees in our backyard that blossomed beautifully this spring. . .
Here are the results of those blossoms. . .
This was the first year the trees where large enough to require a ladder for picking. . .

 They taste delicious...
Don' you just love growing your own fruit and vegetables?

What fruit and or vegetables do you grow in your garden?

Garden

At this time of the year...
I hope the frost stays away for a bit longer...
My Grandson has one large pumpkin...
that still needs more time to change colour....
The corn needs to fill out some more....
With all the wet cool weather...
we still need a bit more heat to help the carrots...

18 cups left and a couple more weeks of picking hmmm.....
Well I am so thankful we were away for the first two weeks they were ready!!
Our children were able to enjoy them:)
