Jamming

We were on our last bottle of jam….

I like filling up our jam pantry in the spring with our extra frozen fruit. Come fall there are so many other things that need doing it’s nice to have the jam done!

No it’s not Stew...

Twice a year I make Miss Pepper homemade dog food….

This almost looks good enough to eat except it lacks seasoning and sometimes
 I add egg shells.
We use it sorta as a treat….before her walks she needs to eat so if she hasn’t we add some of this to her food…she Loves it!

Looking Back....Another Wedding

Second grandchild (brother to granddaugher that got marrried) got engaged in April of 2021. They planned their wedding for Thanksgiving weekend in October. (At the time their were no mandates or restrictions because of Covid)

Well shortly before the date the mandates and restrictions all came down.... so that dissolved the church wedding and inside reception unless she only had 50 guests.

Makayla was determined not to cancel any invitation she had sent our...and found an outside venue... (outside gatherings were allowed up to 200 people)

It was a beautiful spot on the outskirts of the city with views of the mountain. The day was sunny (but you could feel the breeze off the mountains)

She had chosen beautiful fall colours

The reception and dance were all outside....
with firepits going at the end of the day....
It was a beautiful wedding

Two grandchildren married off...
and one daughter and son in law who became empty nesters!

Kootenay Lake is populated with many species of fish, such as Rainbow troutBull TroutBurbotMountain WhitefishWhite SturgeonBrook TroutLargemouth BassYellow PerchPumpkinseed sunfish and Kokanee Salmon.

The scenic drive along the lake is 48 miles long....we have a number of beaches we can stop at.... Rocky ones...sandy ones...

Looking Back...Wedding (s)

We had our First Grandchild wedding in August! Where has the time gone....

With all the restrictions planning a wedding not knowing what would be allowed was challenging....

She had picked a Venue that would work no matter the numbers..but planned for a FULL wedding.

Well she was blessed as there were no restrictions during August....

All our Grands....(the youngest is hiding behind the bride:)

Cruffins

I had never heard of CRUFFINS...have you?

I found this Sourdough Recipe and have been wanting to try it. January weather seemed like the perfect time...

They are a mix between a croissant and a muffin...

You don't slice these in rounds...but lengthwise...then fold them in half in the muffin tin.

At this folding point... I looked at the recipe it said it made 8... I thought all this work for 8????

So a few of them I cut in half to fill the muffin tray.

They turned out good...and cutting them in half was a perfect size !!

I wasn't crazy about them....but hubby ate 6 fresh out of the oven.

Play it again...

Sooo last January I started doing my daughter’s books for her home business.
Just old style making my own spreadsheets etc....
I had 3 months left to do.....and all the files disappeared off my computer...

I was planning on backing it up....but really... I wouldn't lose the files....
Well guess what.... we even took the computer in to see if the pro's could fine the files... NOPE!!

I've been building new spread sheets and re-entering data this week....
AND.... I have a little back up disc... I use EVERY TIME I WORK ON THE FILES:)))

Looking Back

We had changes in our life last year.. since I haven’t blogged for awhile I thought I would post some of those changes throughout this month.

Well it wasn’t really a change but it was a BIG Birthday. Brian turned 70. We had been planning on doing a big family get together but with all the mandates happening it didn’t look like that would happen. So the next best thing I surprised him by inviting our three children to come for his birthday weekend.

They were able to come and our son brought our youngest grand daughter (child) with him so it was nice to have her as well
.
I’m sure she enjoyed being the only grand...she got lots of attention!

One day we went for a big hike in the woods and took a selfie of  the 5 of us...

We haven’t had a picture of us 5 for many years...

We ate lots..our kids did most of the cooking...

We missed having all our family..
but it was special to have our 3 children celebrate Brian’s 70th the year!

No Golfing Today

I promised myself no more snow posts.... but...

We were going to go cross  county skiing at our Golf Course but the tracks weren’t made and the snow was so deep... so we walked along snow shoe tracks...

So quiet except for the planes...and having lived in the prairies for so long ... I’m always amazed at the beauty of our valley 🤷‍♀️

Chess...Sets

Some of you may remember the Chess Set hubby hand carved a few years back.

His goal was to make one for each of our children’s oldest child. He set his goal for his 70th Birthday... Goal was completed his 70th year:)

All three sets are done. He now wants to make boxes to attach to the playing board to hold the chessmen.
He hasn’t set a goal for the completion of them ...

Snow Day

I love walking early mornings before the sun rises.... especially when there is fresh snow. We had a good 6” over night..

Pictures can’t begin to show the beauty... This is  our favourite place to walk to... a path at the edge of town

It was really snowing

On our way home I noticed this ice carving by one of our coffee shops... I had never noticed it before.

Well as I post this the snow is still pouring down... it’s a day I want to just sit and watch it fall:))
