The Collector...

Whether we walk....hike or kayak.... hubby has another motive.... when he is not moving and looks intense...

I know he has found something and he had....he is pushing it with his kayak....

I did have to help him get it to shore....it was a 'good' find.... it will look nice somewhere in our back yard.....
Hiking on the river....there he is...intense again...

This time he has brought a back pack....and he puts his 'cargo' short  to good use too....

I'm not sure if that stick is for his 'collection' or needed to walk with his load!!

My New Dehydrator...

I had borrowed my son's dehydrator this summer.... then in the mail came a gift from him....our very own dehydrator.... I put it to good use....we picked the extra beets , some carrots and extra  peppers....

My first time drying veggies...(the amount really gets small:) Before the frost comes...we will dry what we haven't used in the garden and have them for stews, soups...and veggie chips !

Then I tried some fruit leather...

A few turned out great... I made some too thin...so we will have peach leather chips:)

 This week I'll try some Pear leather....

Winter Hobbies

It seems with summer my crafty hobbies don't get done.... Last January and February I worked on these hobbies...

5 Adult...8 Kids hats...

 I did the hats for a market my daughter was doing.

I also did a small baby quilt for the new grand that was coming...

Out of the scraps... I put together a rag quilt for the market.

It was so much fun to make I started another one for the new grand!

During summer this all stops... I'll have to start thinking of what I will work in this coming winter!

September

Fall is coming... I'm not a great fan of fall....in Alberta, fall means winter is right around the corner and that's snow and cold!!...but here in the Kootenay's.... we actually have a fall...and winter means rain...maybe snow for a little while...but nice mild temperatures!...So I'm going to try to embrace fall! I started working on some fall decorations...

The sunflowers I dried...are ready to decorate with, they turned out better than I thought they would.

Today I started on a couple crafts...

And I finished both...

Now I have to start setting up  the decorations...but my flowers are still blooming ... it's hard to quit summer:)

Grand week continued...

We spent a day at the Wildlife Center....

 And walked Corn Creek...then the eldest had to leave.

 We spent a day at the beach with the other two....

 The youngest was creative .....

 We crossed the border...(we are a border town...we are 8 km from the border and about 30 minutes from a little town in Idaho.... There we had all you can eat pizza...

The day before they left....we kayaked the river.....

We had a week of fun with the kids!!!...And every night...we had a game of Mexican Train..... the last night ...we were Mexican Train played out!!!

A 'Grand" week.......

We were blessed with a visit from our oldest grandchild....

 We kayaked....

to 'pops'favourite area...he calls it Driftwood Paradise!!...and he is a collector!

 He had someone to help him 'collect' ....my rule is if he can't carry it...he doesn't take it...but grands don't follow that rule:)

That evening we had two more grands join us...

We ended the evening with a game of Mexican Train!!
