On the Road...

The weather outside was gloomy as we started south. We had winds that reached 80 km an hour at times. These winds continued for most of the day....

By the end of the day the weather looked promising. The final part of the day was along a back road through small towns.  Twin Bridges Montana looks like a great little town to explore. It was to late for us to stop this time. We stayed in Dillon Mt. T Many great old houses! We stayed in our RV. In the morning it was -7 F. (LK you can do the conversion into celsius !)

The next morning....the weather looked promising although we had our winter spots.
Know matter how many times we make this trip, we never tire of it. We enjoy the different seasons and the beauty never stops to amaze us. Above is the Salt Lake in winter.
Utah...through the Salt Lake area...we usually have bumper to bumper traffic...but this being Sunday...we could actually see the road!
Temperatures in Utah were around 32F which if you don’t know is 0 C. A Winter Storm had gone thru the day before we arrived.
This storm was still happening to the south of us....but by the time we arrived.....the sun was out and we just saw the results of it. Well ...they may have snow...but the temperature only 32F....not like at home!
One hour from the snow...we were in the desert....and stopped for the night. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Mom

Applesauce Oat Bran Vegan Muffins

Sugar Plums
Today I baked for a trip we are taking. For the past year we have tried to eat all whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables and really, really try to get rid of all our animal protein. That being said...I like to bake before we leave so we are not tempted to buy unhealthy treats.
As I was baking my bread, it made me think of my mom. I was the last child of 4. My mom and dad were older when I was born. I have memories of mom being sick a lot of the time. Mom has been gone for some time now.  As I was baking bread I thought of her... when I was a young a girl she baked bread often. I have the white bowl that she mixed it in. I loved eating the dough....and most of the time the only dough I got to eat was what was left in the bowl after she had formed the loaves.
Whole Grain Bread
I can remember about 2 times...seeing my mom sew. I believe she sewed my older sisters clothes...but she sewed me a doll dress...from scratch? Without a pattern!  Man... I can sew but not without a pattern. She played the piano by ear...hmmm I wonder who inherited that from her....sure wish it would of been me. She was a very special person. I did get to care for her the last 2 years of her life. They were VERY SPECIAL years for me and my husband! The most important thing I remember about mom is her praying...every night for her children. Thank you mom. She also had a plaque...it read "Only ONE life will soon be past...only what is done for CHRIST will last." In this busy day and age...when I tend to think mostly of my needs I hope that I can remember how true that is!

Sewing Studio

Remember...read the pattern....cut on the straight of the grain.

This month marks the 9th February that I have been teaching sewing. It all began because I wanted to teach my grandaughter how to sew. She is now helping me teach! In the past years I have taught 6 of my grandkids and have 1 more to go!
I started with 9 students in my first session. Some years I had over 40 students. I have taught over 100 students how to sew!  Students can start when they are 6 and some are still coming when they are 13.
We have sewn in a corner of my husbands woodwoorking shop. In his woodworking shop. Within a music room. Then we got our own room...decorated by my daughters. Thank you girls .. we all think it is beautiful!
Press after you sew...it improves the quality look of your garment!
We have sewn sewing bags, pj's, pillowcases, quilts, backpacks, niteshirts, slippers, aprons, hoodies, pant, tops, dresses, stuffies, mother and father's day presents, Christmas presents, the list goes on....
We've had fashion show 'plays', fashion show displays to strut our stuff!!
Today ends another session. Thank you students for all the good memories!
Remember the seam allowance...
We trim not clip the curves...not to close to the stitching...
So is the length okay?
That is one BIG Stuffie!

Hubby

This weekend my husband had a milestone birthday. Our family were all together to celebrate. The following is what one of his children wrote about him:

'The Sixty Year Happy Birthday Poem for My Dad...
Back to the beginning, back to the start, He had a Mom and Dad on the farm. A brother and a sister on the farm is where they would run and play. He got into trouble on that Ol' farm. Jumpin on horses from way high up in the barn. A few years down the road time did go. He met the love of his life well wouldn't you know. He met her at camp, they got married soon after and began their own trek. Three kids and a dog come into their life. They lived in Calgary for a mite. He had a construction company he named after his kids. He became a carpenter and a teacher too. He liked to go camping and fishing it's true. He coached football and would play games in the yard and taught his kids how to work hard. Then he had not one grandkid and not even two, but Seven...his favourite number well Howdy Doo Doo! He takes them horsey riding and camping and to sporting games. He takes them fishing even in the rain. He pretends he is a dog or a horse for the littlest one and like the others she thinks he is a whole lot of fun! He teaches them games and does woodworking with them. he liked to take drives down the road with his wife, his very best friend - his partner for life. They travel south in their Pleasure Mobile meeting interesting people taking turns at the wheel. He tries as he can to make the most of his days. Spending times with ones he loves as best as he may. He knows that this life will not be the end but only the beginning. For when time here is spent, he will meet his Creator the One who lives in his heart. The one whom he trusts even when things fall apart. He knows that His promises always are true and that his days are numbered and even his hair is too!! So Happy Birthday to you my dad and my friend. I love you lots and have learned from you how to depend on the one whom has died and has risen again. The one whom redeems me and calls me His friend. So that while we are here you have taught me these things. To love those around me and on Jesus to lean. To share with all who will listen to tell them the news. That though we are not perfect today we can choose. For eternity has already begun in our hearts. We have a God who loves us and has from the start! Love you Lots... your child"
And That really does sum up my husband! Hope you have a wonderful year dear!

National Puppy Day

Miss Pepper…..she changed our life… But life wouldn’t be as full without her! She is a kind sweet puppy that always ‘try’s😳’ to please.
