Happy New Year!

As another year comes to an end...

Tomorrow we will have a brand new year to look forward too!

Resolution Run

Last night we picked up our Jackets for the Resolution Run.

Last year we did the run on January 1, 2011.
This year we are doing the run on December 31, 2011.
We like to pick up our running package early...
then if something comes up...
like cold weather...
or the fireplace calling our name....

But I got to thinking hmmm Resolution Run...
I have not made any New Year's Resolutions for years!...
          res·o·lu·tion

1. The state or quality of being resolute; firm determination.
2. A resolving to do something.
3. A course of action determined or decided on.

Okay...so to be true to the Resolution Run...
I guess we are running it know matter the weather or if the fireplace is calling...
I guess we signed up and we better keep that Resolution!
(Checked the forecast---temperatures falling to -14C Saturday afternoon...we could be running in -20 C, brrr!)

Christmas Wrap Up...

Shortly after I posted on my Blog yesterday I received an email from my daughter with a note. After watching the video... I thought she had sent it to me as she had read my post ' Post Christmas Blues'...but she hadn't, she had just sent it to all her family and friends. It was to much of a coincidence not to share it with you...and really takes care of any Post Christmas Blues! The video great..

She also sent the following inspiring note....
"HAPPY AFTER CHRISTMAS MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY!

Isn't it SO incredible that we have a gift that lasts beyond celebrations through the mundane everyday routine of life-that Christmas REALLY DID HAPPEN and that we can celebrate EVERY DAY that God OFFERS US THE BEST GIFT when he came to rescue us from ourselves and what does that means for us? That we have everlasting HOPE,JOY,PEACE, GRACE and all that amazingness that NO ONE ELSE can give available to us and that we don't have to really die?  So whatever you are doing today, even if it is cleaning up the pine needles (I know... most of you have fake trees)  or whatever you are doing - remember that YOU are loved by a GREAT BIG GOD who came to rescue us from our wrong choices and selfishness!!   He really is I AM.  We can celebrate Christmas EVERY SINGLE DAY!! I pray we REALLY TRULY believe it and ACCEPT THE GIFT he has offered, that we wouldn't be quick to forget but that we remember what He has given us throughout the year and that it will CHANGE US and that it will bring us JOY! ...."
WOW! after this note...how can I ever feel the Post Christmas Blues?

I found a new recipe for Turkey leftovers. I have a very fussy hubby where left over turkey is concerned...but he loved this meal!

I made my own pizza crust recipe.
Spread one cup of cranberry sauce,  2 cups of dressing.
3 cups shredded turkey  - 2 cups of shredded old cheddar white cheese
Baste it with Olive Oil and press in sesame Seeds
Bake for 20 minutes at 400 F, slice...
I served it with homemade french fries...and the left over gravy.
I think it was much better than just leftovers!

Post Christmas Blues

Is it only me...
or are there others out there that tend to get the blues after Christmas?
I know it shouldn't be...
but the pace of the season....the cooking and entertaining..
the shopping, the wrapping...
the Christmas music....
everyone home for Christmas....
Then it is December 26...
the family is gone...
the Christmas music is over...
the leftovers to tend with...
especially the left over sweets....
the washing and cleaning...
the decorations that need to come down...
I would think it would even make a Santa wanna be a little down.
(Although this one does not get down...
and he is looking forward to a brand new year!)

Which is another story as
January is a 'down' month for me...
I know it is the beginning of a new year...
yet to me...it seems like the end...
(spring is the beginning I would think!)
It's dark out..
Its usually cold...
So how about you...
is January a fresh new beginning....
or the end?

Merry Christmas. .

To all my friends out in Blogland!
Today we celebrate Jesus Birth...
Love came down at Christmas
Love all lovely, Love Divine, Love was born at Christmas,
Star and Angels gave the sign.
Worship we the Godhead, Love Incarnate, Love Divine,
Worship we our Jesus, But wherewith for sacred sign?
Love shall be our token, Love shall be yours and love be mine,
Love to God and all men, Love for plea and gift and sign.
by Christian Rossetti

Wishing all of you a wonderful Christmas Day...and the best in the New Year!!

Two or Three more sleeps...?

I love Christmas Eve...it is my favourite part of Christmas
...so for me Two more sleeps and it's Christmas.

Winter is officially here.

The days are getting longer!!

Are you ready for Christmas?

In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) And everyone went to their own town to register.

Retro

Apron
I love aprons...and love to sew them!
This apron has a contrast lining that matches the ruffles and ties.
The ties on this one are a bit different than most aprons.
It is a comfortable apron to wear!

Friendship

Christmas is the perfect time to get together with friends.
Years ago I received this book...from a friend!
I invited my friends for Tea...in Celebration of our Friendship!
I enjoy readying the rooms...

We all had a wonderful time eating, drinking tea and visiting....
Why is it....we don't do this more often?
Do you find you do more entertaining at
Christmas than any other time of the year?

How is your weather?

We had a beautiful frosty morning!!

The moon was in the western sky.
The world looked like a winter wonderland
It was a frosty -17 which made for a wonderful crisp run & walk.
I love the hoar frost and I have heard that 90 days after a frost like this...
You get a big dump of moisture....
so if this calculation is correct....
March 11, 2012, will it be rain or snow?

Do you Remember . . .

Do you remember Holly Hobbies?....
Well I found a doll dress that I must of cut out 30 some years ago, from material dresses were made for my little girls.

I thought it was now or never to sew up the doll dress.
So it is now finished...after 30 some years....
It will fit the doll I made for Christmas for my granddaughter.

It has been years since I have knit....
My little granddaughter brought a Barbie doll the last time she visited.
I sewed up a few outfits for the Barbie...then remembered I had this pattern....

Do you remember the first Barbie's?....
This picture looks like some of the very early ones....
and knitting Barbie clothes is much easier than sewing them....
And I forgot how much I enjoy knitting!

A closer look

Every day I drive down this lane..
one day I slowed down and took a closer look...

I saw a fence post, falling, with moss growing on it....

At the corner the wooden fence...with a metal gate....
Eight years I've been driving by and never noticed....

What eles do we miss when we get so busy...
we don't take time to look...
                                                                            or listen....
