Down the road from us.... we couldn't believe what we saw....

SHEEP......And there wasn't just a few...

The following week we were biking along a canal....

and...

 More sheep....

maybe the same sheep...

but they had been moved...

Could this be the way they are now mowing the fields??

Southern Arizona...

 Driving to Phoenix...we came around a corner... and the view...

First Desert Christmas...

Living in Central Alberta....

Christmas is a time of cold, snow, skating, skiing....

this year we experienced our first Christmas in the Desert....

We spent time swimming and in the sun...

We had a fun Christmas Eve with other park residents with Santa, a gift exchange

and Christmas Dinner on Christmas Day!!

We had a wonderful Christmas in our little southern home...

It's not to bad...being away from snow and cold....

but we did think lots about our children...back home.

Tamale Festival

Down the road from Yuma...in the town of Somerton....

Main Street was Packed...

With people and over 40 Tamale Booths.... 

We wondered what a Tamale Festival was...

and it is Tamales... 

If you like crowds...and Tamales you have it made!!!

It was a fun experience...even thought I don't like crowds...

and the Tamales...were ok:))

Cotton Field

Yuma is the Winter Vegetable Capital of the World.....
but did you know cotton is also grown in Yuma....
We didn't know that until last spring...apparently they grow the cotton in the summer when it's to hot for the veggies....

This fall we came upon a .. Cotton Field...

This was a first for me.... I had never seen a cotton field!

Christmas Carol

It wasn't your classic Christmas Carol....
Scrooge was a fur trader in the Alberta Northwest Territories....
It was a wonderful performance!!

 Our granddaughter was in the play.... so it was extra special!!

Adventures in My Backyard

We can watch beautiful Alberta Sunsets from our backyard...

As the sun sets.... so does our Adventures in our backyard...for a season we will be leaving ....

We are off on another adventure...away from the snow and cold....
I'm sure we'll have a few new adventures next spring in our backyard...

Winter's Day.....?

It was a beautiful day... 

After a two hour ski...

We lit the fire...

And roasted wieners....

The deck was warm ...

 It was a wonderful way to spend a winter day..... 

But isn't it still fall??

Fifty years ago I'm sure this church settling looked different.
That was when hubby attended this church with his Grandma and Aunt when he visited the city...

The City has grown up around it and it is almost hidden away among the highrises...

The last Moon.....

I love the evenings when the moon is out....

 We've enjoyed being out skiing under the light of the moon...

This is an extra special moon to me.....

It's the last moon that I will spend in the snow this winter....

I'll be under Palm trees when the next few moons come along....

Adventures in My Backyard...

We can play in our back yard...tracking our course for the first time in the deep snow is no easy feat...

But well worth the work!!

 

Shadow's are lengthening...time to head home.

The weather outside....

Was the type of weather you always want for Christmas....

it snowed and snowed and snowed...again...

It was perfect for what the GK's called our 'Fake' CHRISTmas....
We won't be home in December so it was the weekend our family all came home for Christmas....
It was a perfect time...

We had little fibbers...

And big Fibbers....

I never got a picture of the turkey dinner...

But the second day...we had....

Five in our family will celebrate birthdays while we are gone... so we ate and ate some more!

 (One had a hockey game...so he missed his party!)

It was the perfect Christmas Weekend!!

In our city...the train whistle still sounds....
We are fairly close to the tracks and LOVE the sound....
From our backyard we can even see the trains passing by...
