Missouri River Headwaters

The longest river in North America begins here...
This is where the Jefferson and Madison Rivers meet.

I love imagining what it was like over 200 hundred years ago when Lewis and Clark camped here...

  4. I crossed the Missouri River several times in May and even visited the Gavins Point Dam that gathers power from the massive river. It was also a place were Lewis and Clark's expedition camped.

  5. Hmmm....we've followed a bit of L&C's trek, but not been at the headwaters before - must make this one of our stops on our up-coming trip! Thanks for sharing!

  6. I've never had the pleasure of visiting there, though my brother who was living in Nebraska took my Mom & Dad all over the area and they saw so many interesting sites! Lewis and Clark are so fascinating, too. Love the history. Great shots.

  7. Loved seeing this post in your list! We live near enough to have driven by many, many times over the years... and I never tire of knowing, and seeing, how this country was explored, and how cool those rivers, and that area is. Hello from Great Falls, MT where the famous portage of L&C took place to get around the five falls of this area...
