Ajo

Ajo is being rejuvenated by the Arts.

Projects include everything from building renovations, arts activities as seen above, to community gardens,
The Curley School has been renovated and now houses Artisan's who want to have some time to 'work'. We saw one of the apartments and they are beautiful!!
They have a Conference Center that has four large multipurpose meeting rooms, a commercial catering kitchen, beautiful courtyard dining area, access to an adjacent indoor/outdoor performance venue and auditorium, clay studio, woodworking shop, gardens, and ample outdoor workspace. The Conference Center can accommodate groups from 10 to 250 for events, with space for up to 60 overnight guests.
We stayed in one of those rooms and we were impressed....Classrooms made into 'hotel room's
Hopefully they will market 'The Arts" well and the town will grow!

Road Trip...

We went on a little road trip to Ajo ... a once thriving Copper Mine Town.... now turning to the Arts....

It is a quaint place....The Plaza...here they hold weekly Farmer's Markets with produce from their many Community Gardens, Art Shows and more!
Adobe style buildings, which I like so much!!...
The mine.. is as deep as the Empire State Building is high... The Lookout Tower was closed, because of the holiday...so I had to take pictures between fence wires...

Here you can see the lake at the bottom of the mine. The mine closed in 1985...
When the mine closed.... the town began to die....but what is it doing to grow the town ...to be continued!

National Puppy Day

Miss Pepper…..she changed our life… But life wouldn’t be as full without her! She is a kind sweet puppy that always ‘try’s😳’ to please.
