Looking Back...Wedding (s)

We had our First Grandchild wedding in August! Where has the time gone....

With all the restrictions planning a wedding not knowing what would be allowed was challenging....

She had picked a Venue that would work no matter the numbers..but planned for a FULL wedding.

Well she was blessed as there were no restrictions during August....

A little bit of This and That...

Today my youngest grandson turned 10 years old!!
It is very different being 2000 miles away
from your grandchildren on their birthdays!
I hope he had a wonderful day!
We love you buddy!!!

My middler had bought some items at a second hand store...
She gave them to me to enhance our Arizona home....
Before...
After with the vintage table cloth.
Our futon before...
She had purchased a chenille bedspread..
We found some posters for the wall
I also sewed up a couple pillow shams...
Our bedroom before the quilt...

Hubby had made little night tables...
Middler painted them.

Hubby has been busy on the outside of our lot....
He has worked very hard.
In the next couple of weeks I may have before and after pictures of what he has been up too...
Although he works so fast at times I can't get the before pictures.

Chocolate cake...in 5 minutes

The boys' were in the shop working...
My granddaughter was showing me how to make this monkey...
We both made a family of monkeys!
After lunch everyone made their own Chocolate Cake.

Here's the recipe....thanks goes to my cousin!
(I sprayed the mugs before using)
There was not much virtue around the table....
they all were able to eat the whole mug of cake...
even after a big lunch....
hubby was able to down his and half of mine!
Enjoy....

Thankful # 2

November 8th...my oldest Grandson's birthday. I remember the day he was born so well!! He was born early in the morning. I still remember driving to the hospital. I spent the whole day just holding him! He was my first grandchild...born to my first born!

This year he turned 17.
I always wanted to be home for my grandchildren's birthdays....but as it worked out this year we were south.

Thankfully his family took a little holiday, close to where we were and we were able to celebrate his day with him!
My daughter made yummy subs and we had lunch together.
The men went for a round of golf!
The women visited by the lake and watched the waterplay!
We all went out for supper...
Grandson has his cake complete with 17 candles!

Hobby...or not?

"A hobby is a regular activity or interest

 that is undertaken for pleasure,

typically done during one's leisure time."

Seventeen years ago my daughter was expecting our first grandchild.
My sister had 4 grandchildren that every Christmas she cross-stitched a Christmas Ornament for.
I thought this was a GRAND idea!!(?)
So, I started making my first grandbaby his first cross stitch ornament ....
Seventeen years later, I have 7 grandkids.
I totalled it up and I have made approximately 75 ornaments over the last 17 years.

There were years I was frantically trying to finish them up a day before Christmas!
Some years I ended up buying a few as I didn't have time to finish all of them!

The past two years I have been able to wrap them up well before Christmas...

...so in November when we head south...I can start all over again for the following year:)
Next year I will have 1 less ornament to do as this is the oldest grandchild's last year to receive one. (I am thinking once they are 18 years old...they shouldn't get too excited about an ornament:)
So I only have 14 years more of doing this...then they'll all be 18 ...sigh

What makes me continue to do this...I'm wondering is it a hobbie?
(did I mention I DO NOT enjoy cross-stitching)
Well hobby or not... here's to 14 more years of cross-stitching!

Pumpkin Patch

After a couple nights of frost,
it was time to bring in the pumpkins.
So the grandkids when out to the 'Pumpkin Patch'
(such as it was, the frost had taken care of the plants!)

The pumpkins were still looking good!

Four fair sized pumpkins were picked!
One was almost totally orange....
yes pumpkins start out green...
then turn orange.
(Our season is just too short to get them big and orange:)

And there was even a Pumpkin Head!

This Pumpkin Head and her brother have started a blog.
 'The Variety Tree'
 . . .Check it out!....

They will be sure to have some interesting posts!

Dog House

Our youngest grandson has been wanting to build their new dog a dog house.
So Pops spent an afternoon with him...

Pops is a stickler for plans....
Measuring...
Drilling nail pilot holes...
Hammering begins...

It's going together fast!
Almost there...
All in an afternoon!!!
Now we can take it home to shingle it and paint it!!
Pops just needs more days like this...now that he is retired!

National Puppy Day

Miss Pepper…..she changed our life… But life wouldn’t be as full without her! She is a kind sweet puppy that always ‘try’s😳’ to please.
