Random Five Friday

We had a trip to Palm Springs this week taking the grands to the airport!

This week was very hot 34C ( in the 90's)

III
The skies here have been a bit noisy....practice going on at the airport

IV
The doves are cooing every morning.... the birds are chatting all day and at night...the crickets are singing....wonderful sounds of spring!!

V
The park is thinning out ....people are heading home... I tend not to think about that just yet!

Random 5 Friday...

Here is my Random 5 for this week...linking with Nancy...

1. I love my coffee...but I really wonder what causes a person to sit in an idling car for 15 minutes to order one in a drive thru??

2. Seven years ago, less one month hubby and I were packing up and leaving Edmonton....'7' years... and we are doing it again... I wonder what we'll be doing in '7' years from now?

3. I will miss the warm evenings here in the summer.... it's usually always cooler 'back home'...the other morning I noticed it was 7C..... a little too cool for a summer evening for my liking!!

4. One thing I have learned this year, is that we are not ready for condo living. There is something about having your own home and yard!

5. Here is the view from my condo kitchen...it was a nice place to hang out in this past year...but life goes on...

Random Five Friday...

1. After hours of quilting... I did finish hand quilting my quilt...

2. This week was  the warmest week this summer...the weather man said...

3. In two weeks everything of ours will be moved from the city ...to our new home in the town we left a year ago.

4. This move is the 19th time I've had to pack and move in 41 years....I'm trying not to dread every box I pack..knowing I still have to unpack it and organize it ...again..and why do I need all this 'stuff' anyways???!!!

5. Last evening we walked across the High Level Bridge... we noticed how the days are getting shorter...

Random Five Friday...

It has been a summer of hit and miss with posting .....and here it is well into August...

My Random Five will be some of the things we did this summer....

1. Attended the Provincial Lacrosse Tournament.... GS 3's team won bronze in Provincials..

2. Hubby and I spent time getting our new home ready....Hubby had some great help!!

3. While hubby was working outside on the deck... I was painting furniture. I wanted 'new' furniture...but WHY??...when paint does wonders to pieces!!! I had to chuckle as I remember about 30 years ago...we had some pieces that had layers of paint...and we stripped off all the paint to enjoy the wood.... I'm thinking....which generation will strip off the paint  I am now painting:)))

4. Attended a Family Reunion ....

5. Went camping with some of our children and grand children....We camped by one of the rivers that flooded in southern Alberta a month ago...The damage was still obvious in the park...

The edge of the banks still housed the larger trees that had been uprooted by the flood.

Random Five Friday....

1. We've had some beautiful warm days with week...but often after a warm day, we get seveve thunderstorms...rain and hail!

2. At dusk we took a walk to the Legislature Buildings... it was a beautiful warm evening...on our way home we craved an ice cream...the stores were closed...our only hope of ice cream was Wendy's Drive Thru...with some determination we were able to 'walk -thru' and get our ice cream at 11:15 pm...

3. I have a habit of every morning lighting a candle to burn...something happened that I have never done before... I got home from shopping ...oops I had left the candle on. Now I have to second think that habit!!!

4. In seven weeks it will one year since we moved to the city....we have some decisions to make  ...we do have a home back in our home town now...so in the next couple weeks we will have to decide what we want our life to look like this fall....

5. Next week...we'll be on holidays...it will be a working holiday....without the internet...so I may be away from my computer for awhile!

Well it is Friday... Yah...time for Random Five Friday...

1. It was a short week....as Monday -  Canada celebrated Canada Day...

 2. The down size of the long weekend was that we spent it working and never got to enjoy the beautiful warm weekend...I feel like I missed the holiday!!

 3.  Today the Calgary Stampeded opened it gates...
the flood waters that covered that area didn't stop the The Greatest Show on Earth!
As a child growing up in Calgary we never missed a parade for the Calgary Stampede!

 

4. Looking forward to this weekend...not to much on our agenda...  

markets...friends coming to town...

 5.  It was another week I didn't have my camera out ....

1. I found some great natural deodorant!! Hand made from LUSH!
You can Powder or a Bar of it.

2. We had one day of steady hard rain...when I went out of the Condo for a walk when the rain stopped....this is what the parking lot looked like!

3. The wading pools at the Parliament buildings where all opened this week...

4. Did you know that whole canned tomatoes are held to a higher standard in the canning process...diced tomatoes are basically left over pieces and parts...

5. The High Level Bridge celebrated it's 100th Birthday this spring!

1. It's been eleven days... since I have sat down at my computer...when life get hectic...the computer gets dusty...

2. I have been busy and feeling exhausted ..posting ideas leave me....and it is hard to get back into it! At times like this I wonder...why I really have a blog... do you feel like that...and what do you do to get it going again?

3. It was was Grandson Two birthday last week. Fifteen years old!!

4. I keep forgetting to take pictures.. BUT.... my granddaughter took my camera and took some GREAT pictures..... I will be posting some that she took...here is a peak  preview...

5. Yesterday my girlfriend and I took our granddaughters to the zoo... It was about 33 years ago the first time I went to this zoo.... with this girlfriend. We had our little boys the fathers of these girls!!
Yesterday was a  wonderful day and I just love this friend...who is such a wonderful friend after all these years...

1. Monday was Victoria Day here in Canada... they started the fountains at the Parliament Buildings...
The wading pools should be opened soon.

2. Mornings are my favourite time of the day...
What is yours?

3. After a load of wash this week ... this is what was at the bottom of the wash machine...
What do you find in your laundry machine after you do a load of wash....
I wonder who left these in their pocket?

4. Went out for Brunch with a few of the Grand kids and Middler... Middler has not gone out with me since my birthday (over a month ago)...so she got them to sing Happy Birthday to me...

I find it very embarrassing to be sung too... how do you feel when they sing to you in a restaurant?

But this is the 'cake' they give out.... How cool is that!

5. Spent an afternoon at Galaxy land at West Edmonton Mall with the Gk's
It's hard to believe that I use to take my kids here..30 years ago... YIKES where did the years go?

Random 5 Friday....

Friday again!! I'm Linking with A Rural Journal... for Randon 5 Friday...

1. So do you think of Friday as the end of the week....or the beginning of the Weekend?

 2. This week...has been a busy 'social life' week....is it just me...or do you have weeks that you never seem to get together with people...then other weeks... it never stops?

  3. I took my car in for an oil change this week... I had an appointment at 2:00 pm.... I'm usually waiting 40 minutes...Two and a half hours later.... they had finally finished....would of you been impatient? I'm getting better at taking it as it comes...

4.  Driving the car home....by the time I got home the car was sputtering...something was wrong...
To make a long story short...they had washed the engine and got water in spots it shouldn't of been and the car needed new spark plugs and spark plug wires....

5. Went shopping and out for lunch with my sister this week....
We had a beautiful time. I even bought some beautiful clothes!

1. Over all the weather has been beautiful this week.
A few cool windy days...but I am enjoying the spring weather so much!!

 

2. Did some sewing this week... tried making a Tulle skirt for a little girl..

3. I have this old lamp...I found in a Antique Shop....
...its one of those purchases...you're glad you made!

 4. I tried a new Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe this week...
It is delicious...
It has oatmeal, chocolate chips and toffee bits it in...the bad thing is it is hard to stop eating them...

5. I found out this week...that the Rutherford Museum Tea House has shut down....
It is so sad...it was such a beautiful place to visit and have a delicious lunch!!
We will miss it
