Craters of the Moon ...

We stopped and visited  Craters of the Moon in Idaho....
It was worth the visit....
 Different terrains...

Lava close up...
You can hike up to the top of the volcano...
The view from the top is spectacular!!
Then you can walk out the the caves...there are three ...two you need flashlights...
The one we visited had holes in the top so it had light...

One of us has always worried about bats...they could get caught in your hair you know:))
It was my first experience in a cave....
And I think next time... I'll try one ...that is dark with a flashlight....
It was amazing....

Sky Watch...

Sky over Yellowstone National Park WY... September 2013

Jackson Hole WY

Or is it Jackson WY....when we were looking up the place, we could not figure out what kind  of town it was....but when we were arrived we fell in love with the authentic western town!
The center of town has two arches made from antelope antlers...
Boardwalks along the shops...
And a ski hill in your backyard if you want to visit in the winter!
The main reason for our trip to Jackson was to meet up with a fellow blogging friend
We had a wonderful lunch together!
And enjoying getting to know her better.
Nancy had brought me a pair of the socks that she loves to knit!
They are so comfortable!!
I love them, thank you Nancy....

 A mountain...that roars...from all the  Numerous fumaroles
We arrived at Mammoth Hot Springs...a very quaint area...

  This area has many terraces

I think this is one of my favourite areas!

Yellowstone

We're on a little getaway with a daughter and two grandson's....
I've been to Yellowstone 2 times before.... I wasn't going to worry about taking pictures...as I have so many....but I did...and I am still amazed at the beauty....the terrain....the history of this area....
Where else can you see steam rising from the ground...

 Thermal pots...

 Bubbling Mud....

The Grand Canyon...

Bison...

I could go on and on with all the picture I took...  I have hundreds......but you really have to see it to see the real beauty of it all!!

I think we all had a wonderful time!!

Chalk Paint

For the past few months I have been busy painting furniture. I was introduced to "Chalk Paint"...and have enjoyed using it  and love the finished look and feel of the paint. It feels hard and silky smooth.

I make my own chalk paint... you can find recipes on the web... I used approx. 1/3 Plaster of Paris and 2/3 paint. After the project is complete I apply a paste wax to most of my projects.

My latest project was our bed frame.
I lightly sand the project and give it two coats of the Chalk Paint.
The last sanding I distress it...then wax it.
I have gone a little paint crazy...but each room will still have a natural wood piece in it!
