Adventures in My Backyard

In our city...the train whistle still sounds....
We are fairly close to the tracks and LOVE the sound....
From our backyard we can even see the trains passing by...

  1. I like these photos-I grew up in Kamloops, B.C. and lived at the top of town, the train ran through below us and in the summer we'd hear their whistles clear and loud, I loved it. Here if the wind blows in the right direction we get the rumble of the trains passing through our little village.

  3. I love trains, but most of the tracks in this area have been pulled and converted to walking or riding trails.

  5. The sound of a train whistle is one of my favorite sounds ever! When my children were young we found a book at the library that explained what each whistle was for - the long-long-short-long, etc. Wish I could remember now the meanings - maybe I'll look that up on the Internet!

  7. Nice photos! I think every little boy or girl is fascinated by trains, I know I was....And I love these freight trains too, even now!....they seem to last forever trundling along across the country. It's a hypnotic sound. Thanks for sharing!

  8. Until we moved here, I lived somewhere near train tracks and miss the gentle rocking sound of the train/tracks.
