Ajo is being rejuvenated by the Arts.
Projects include everything from building renovations, arts activities as seen above, to community gardens,
The Curley School has been renovated and now houses Artisan's who want
to have some time to 'work'. We saw one of the apartments and they are
beautiful!!
They have a Conference Center that has four large multipurpose meeting rooms, a commercial catering
kitchen, beautiful courtyard dining area, access to an adjacent
indoor/outdoor performance venue and auditorium, clay studio,
woodworking shop, gardens, and ample outdoor workspace. The Conference
Center can accommodate groups from 10 to 250 for events, with space for
up to 60 overnight guests.
We stayed in one of those rooms and we were impressed....Classrooms made into 'hotel room'sHopefully they will market 'The Arts" well and the town will grow!
What a great idea for reviving a dying town and putting old buildings to good use.
