When we arrived home....he spent all his spare time trying to finish the set so he could take it on our trip to visit family and play the first game with them!
After giving each piece a final sanding, He made a frame for the board, (his plan is to put a drawer under the box for storage of the men).
The staining and waxing began...
Felts were then put on the bottom of each piece...And trimmed...
The game is completed and between his son and grands,.....time will only tell how many games he will win! He taught the grands to play...he taught them well....he now has a hard time beating them:)
Impressive chess set and board - well done! No doubt the guys will have memorable matches, using this set. Any granddaughter's play?

ReplyDeleteThe wood is beautiful and what a talent to carve such great playing pieces.
ReplyDeleteVery lovely set. My husband taught our oldest son to play when he was about ten. Next thing we knew he was beating his Dad on a regular basis.
