Fowl Friends...

Biking along the canal...

We met these feathered friends....

 I loved seeing the Chicken and Rooster....roaming free in Old Town Yuma!

Lettuce

I remember my first head of Yuma lettuce....fresh from the field...It was Romaine...and it was yummy. Lettuce is lettuce...but that lettuce was VERY GOOD!

The last two times we have been in Yuma and we pass a lettuce field... I wish I could just go and pick myself a head...

On one of our walks...we walk past a lettuce field... every time I see the lettuce...I crave it!

Then one day....the pickers were picking!!

I begged hubby....to ask if we could buy a fresh bunch of lettuce...

I watched from the distance...and got worried....

Hubby stopped him cutting us some...after 4 bunches...

It is delicious!!

(I didn't keep it all for ourselves... I did share with the neighbours!)

But guess what's for dinner....

And for lunch!

It happened... A dump of snow it was about 84 days not 90....after the hoar frost...

(Schools were closed for 2 days because of the snow!!)

Sorry we were not there to enjoy the snow with you!

Backyard Friends

Back home in Canada, I have never had any luck attracting Hummingbirds. I decided to try here in Arizona.

The feeder had been out two days....and we had attracted......about 50 wasps!! We had company at the time...no one was very happy with my feeder and it ended up in a plastic bag...wasps and all..

I thought my Hummingbird watching would be over. 

I did some research and talked to some people and decided to try it one more time...

And....

We have Hummingbirds!!... 

This little guys seemed to like to pose for me...

He even seems to be smiling!

Now we get to enjoy the hummingbirds feed on our feeder...
Catching bugs...
Checking out the flowers...
They are so entertaining...

Downtown Yuma

We love biking to Old Town Yuma. 

To some it may seem like a dying spot...

But if you dig deep...

you can find a treasure chest of:

 unique stores

 antique stores

cool eating places

artists...

the list goes one!

Cars....

We are still new to all the happenings going on down here. Every year they hold an event called Midnight at the Oasis. One of the things they do is have a Cruise of Cars...to park for the Show and Shine the following day. There were 100's of vehicles!

We were late getting to the 'cruise', but got a few pictures of some of the vehicles passing us. The pictures are not the greatest as we had 3 rows of people in front of us. Second granddaughter...you asked if they would throw candy at this parade... I had said I doubt it...well guess what?? They did :)

At times like this...I know hubby wishes he had his son and boys with him to enjoy this with (since I really don't have much interest in this)...so this post is for the 'boys' back home...that hubby would have loved to share this event with!

The following day... in the parking lot... they were selling these if anyone is interested?

hmmm  Firstborn....your could deliver hubby's lunches in this! He would definitely see you coming!

I thinking of Second Born for this one? Some inspiration for the one you have...or maybe they'll trade?

Every time we bike the Canal, we pass this truck...Hubby needed this picture.

Downtown Dining....

We have found a couple favour places to eat in Old Town Yuma...

LUTES CASINO 

A little History about the building...

"Built in 1901 right in the heart of old downtown Yuma Arizona. It looks old, like old places should. It was built as a general store with a hotel located on the second floor, with the hotel balcony overlooking main street. You ask one of the Lutes why they named the place a casino? "There's no gambling now, of course, but years ago there used to be gambling in here. They paid off the local authorities, and there was a trap door right behind you that went down to the basement where the gambling took place."

We tried Lutes Special Burger...

(Hamburger and Hot Dog Together)

 IT WAS DELICIOUS!!

Potato Tortilla...

( potato and cheese fill tortilla...covered with cabbage..)

It was WONDERFUL

The rest of the menu is your normal Hamburger, basic Mexico food. 

As well as the live music... there are pool tables at the back of the restaurant. 

Garden Cafe

We had Tortilla soup and an Avocado Sandwich.
Delicious!

Both places were very busy! 

Tourist and locals alike enjoy these restaurants! 

Reservations on recommended at the Garden Cafe noon hours and on weekend!
