Homemade Noodles... and a New Blog!

Childhood Memories... that's what Homemade noodles bring back. 

Mom use to make noodles...I remember her making the dough...

rolling it  with a rolling pin and hand cutting them.
It was a lot of work to make noodles for a meal.

Then she got a noodle machine
and she would spend a day making noodles. 

Sheets would be laid out on the spare bed...floor...
for the noodles to dry. 

Then she would freeze the noodles
to use through the coming months.

My sister came and we made noodles
not as many as mom use to make...

but enough to have for a few meals....

Eggs and flour...
and sometimes a bit of water blended to the right texture..

Then the dough is rolled out...
about 3 times..

thinner each time

Then the pieces are 'hung' to dry... 

the dough can't be sticky when cut into noodles

The noodles are then cut and laid out to dry completely...

MMM ...nothing quite like home made noodles...

Talking about homemade... 

my crafty daughter and friend are making things 

and posting them in their  new blog...

A few things....

It's been a week...that my camera hasn't been working... 

I can't get it to focus...

I did every thing the manual told me to do...and more so...

what do you do...fix it...or replace it?

Anyways...my pictures are now all from my phone...

(I don't take great pictures to start with...so bare with me:)

This week,  youngest -  little girl is turning 5...

she is also our youngest grandchild...

We had a going away party for her...

Our 4 year old grand daughter was going away forever...

she would now be 5 never to be 4 again....

she thought it was fun..

When I asked what she wanted to eat...her favourite food

well it was Pancakes and Bacon...

I tired a new recipe with Bacon to make it special...

This recipe I found on Pinterest.... 

(I just joined Pinterest...and I love it...

I'll have to link it to my blog ...someday)

Anyways this recipe is super easy...

 The adults loved it...

but thankfully I had cooked 'extra' bacon...

As granddaughter just wanted bacon..

Children are so easy to please...

We also had fruit to go with the pancakes...

 Her favourite was dessert...

 It took her ...about 5 tries

to get the candles out...

Once Upon a Time..

this was some one's home.

I'm sure it was a beautiful home..

The Chicken coupe out back still stands...

This Homestead is beside a busy Secondary Highway

 just down from where we lived.

I have passed it many times in the past 30 years...

this time we noticed pieces of wood missing...

I'm sure it won't be long...until it's totally gone!

The one thing that keeps me blogging is all the great people I meet! 

Know you don't meet them face to face...

 it would be great to be able to do that sometime...

but you hear about their lives and a friendship does form.

The Locals....

It's been almost two months 

since Hubby and I have moved to the city. 

Most of you know that we enjoy walking...

and most days take me out walking somewhere around downtown.

 Living downtown...is an experience that I really enjoy...

You have the high rises...all the business's...the rush hour traffic....

the college...its a busy place!

You have the condos for rent...the condos people own...

 The apartments... for rent and sale...

Students, executives, couples, the elderly,

 families all live downtown

There are some houses that people still live in... 

The highrise condos and apartments...

One day... I past this grocery cart...

but it didn't have groceries in it..

this cart intrigued me...I mean it really intrigued me...

 I looked at that cart and realized that it had everything in it ...

one would need to live... 

It was everything the owner owned!

Well the next morning I was out walking...and I got a picture..

My mind was flooded with all sorts of thoughts. 

What kind of person owns this cart?!

Since then I often see this cart when I'm out walking..

Each time I past it... I notice he has it all... 

extra boots....coffee mug...water jug...

tarp.... bags of bottles to cash in...fur coat...a bike...

Everything one would need to live life!!

He doesn't have any upkeep to speak of... no bills....

I think of this person often..I wonder...

who his parents were...did he ever have a family...

Why is living on the street...

and not in one of the apartments or condo's...

I know there are places he can sleep inside ...

I know there are places he can get a warm meal....

What does he do all day???

The downtown area is his home...

I really wonder...

who is happier... 

him

 or the one in the high rise penthouse?

I realize that the homeless are in every city...

coming from small town Central Alberta...

I haven't seen it for years...

so I guess 

that is why it made such an impression on me. . .

and everyday... I think....
