Post Christmas Blues

Is it only me...
or are there others out there that tend to get the blues after Christmas?
I know it shouldn't be...
but the pace of the season....the cooking and entertaining..
the shopping, the wrapping...
the Christmas music....
everyone home for Christmas....
Then it is December 26...
the family is gone...
the Christmas music is over...
the leftovers to tend with...
especially the left over sweets....
the washing and cleaning...
the decorations that need to come down...
I would think it would even make a Santa wanna be a little down.
(Although this one does not get down...
and he is looking forward to a brand new year!)

Which is another story as
January is a 'down' month for me...
I know it is the beginning of a new year...
yet to me...it seems like the end...
(spring is the beginning I would think!)
It's dark out..
Its usually cold...
So how about you...
is January a fresh new beginning....
or the end?

  1. Celebrate the twelve days of Christmas, which is traditional after Christmas Day. I keep the tree up and continue playing Christmas music until Epiphany.

I even leave some of the decorations up longer: the snowmen are out until February.

  2. I know exactly what you mean - all the buying, wrapping, cleaning, cooking etc. Then on the day itself visitors, eating, drinking and merriment. And then it is over!!!
Although I have enjoyed the last two days as it is time to relax and do - not a lot. I'm back to work tomorrow hmmmph. Everybody else in my house is off for another week. Not fair!!!!

  3. You are sooo not alone! I always get the Christmas blues, starting Christmas night and lasting a couple of days. I think it's a natural letdown after all the hustle, bustle and excitement leading up to the big day. The body just can't sustain that level of enthusiasm - at least mine can't.

January and February are dark days, especially here in the north, but I rather like them - the quiet and darkness is a balm to the soul - except when this soul is forced out to drive in the snow that accompanies those months.

I wish you a new year full of hope and promise.

  6. Flora each and every day I open my eyes and take my first conscious breath is a new beginning for me. Not all days go as smooth or as well planned as others but I'm grateful for every day I'm blessed with. With this approaching New Year I'm excited and nervous, I'm going to book my flight to Australia today, then I'm going to be crazy busy preparing for my extended stay abroad.

I wish you a very Happy New Year, I'll post a special photo from Australia for you in hopes it will help you get through your mid winter, January blues!

  9. Oh, it's very difficult NOT to experience a little down-time after the rat race that Christmas has become! Hang in there!
