Memories

WHY??

I just wonder what we were thinking!! Bronzing our children's first pair of shoes. It was when we where young and broke...yet we paid to get them bronzed???

They were packed away for years. About 6 years ago.. I unpacked them...I was in a state...you either use it or get rid of it. My kids don't want them..but I could not get rid of them. About a year ago I sat them by my front door in the entry... well they were close to the door! They actually look okay there...I even get positive comments. The other day as I moved them when I was cleaning... they brought back memories of my kids, I had to get the photo albums out and reminisce...I just may have to keep these! (Maybe their kids will want them someday?)

"Whatever they grow up to be, they are still our children,
and the one most important of all the things we can give to them is unconditional love.
Not a love that depends on anything at all except that they are our children." Rosaleen Dickson
"Children begin by loving their parents;
as they grow older they judge them;
sometimes, they forgive them"
Oscar Wilde

  1. Ja też chowałam na pamiątkę niektóre ubranka dzieci, butki, zabawki
    (pluszowy miś i słoń) i wiesz co, one już to zabrały do swoich domów. Czyli przedstawiało to dla nich jakąś wartość. Pozdrawiam

  3. I remember my parents had at least one pair bronzed -- either mine or my older sister's. I wonder if she still has them? Thanks for evoking a memory for me! :)

  4. Isn't it interesting how children's shoes have changed to low tops with no ankle support.

    Your children may not want the shoes now, but trust me, they will want them later. Keep them on display!

  11. I don't think we bronze shoes in Sweden, but I think it is a very sweet custom. What a good idea to bring them out and keep them where they can be seen.--Inger

  12. What fantastic memories and to think that your memory was awakened by these adorable shoes which you were trying to give away. I say keep them and leave them right where you have them... they look so sweet and I'm sure they've put many smiles on your face and of those who visit. I wish I would have bronzed my childrens baby shoes especially after seeing this photo!

    Enjoy your Sunday!

  13. My parents had some shoes bronzed; I have no idea what happened to them. But I'm with those who think you should keep them! If your children don't want them, then they can deal with them after you are gone!

  14. So cute and so true. Amazing how humbling the parenting process is and we can only be compassionate for our parents when we go through the ringer ourselves. Suddenly then we realize what an amazing job our parents did! Loving your blog posts!!
