Why do I Blog?

About 8 months ago I started my blog.
I was encouraged to start a blog as Hubby and I go south, and my daughter thought a blog would be a good way for me to journal our travels for family.

So with her help we set up my blog.

I have people ask if I am still doing my Blog....
it started me thinking.

Why am I still at it?
There are days, and weeks that I have to rack my brain to think of what to post.
Life gets so busy, I wonder where the time will come from to post AND to read the Blogs I am following!!
To some the common sense thing to do  is to give up my Blog.  ?

Well there is something about my Blog...its mine.

I am not a writer...
but its my blog so how I write...well its just me.

I'm not a photographer...
but my Blog got me into taking lots of pictures....
you never know when they will give you an idea...for a post.
(And one day I would like a GOOD camera and learn how to take GREAT pictures)

Through my Blog I have meet people from all over the world.
I have seen pictures of THEIR world and heard about THEIR life.

I have meet friends... yes friends through blogging.
People...that even though you have never meet them...you connect.
And they truly feel like friends!

I have gotten all sorts of ideas from blogs:
sewing ideas, life ideas, recipes, I've been inspired!

So... I guess busy or not...I'll keep my Blog....

The other morning ...I was thinking what's for supper today.
Reading a post... there was a recipe...and I had my supper idea!
I made a few changes and viola!....
Check out the Original Recipe!

It doesn't look at all like the Original...
but has all the same ingredients...
except I had no Yogurt so I used half sour cream and half mayo!
It was delicious!

So...why do you have a Blog?

  1. I was an avid blog reader before starting my own. I wanted to start one but wondered who would want to read my ramblings. But I started one - just for myself really - and to my surprise and delight people started reading and following. Now I love it. I am a true blogaholic - in fact I think I now spend far to much time on the computer lol.
So I can totally relate to what you say about your blog. It's opened up a whole new world for me.

  2. When I started my blog, the furthest thing from my mind was whether people would read it or not. I was blogging for myself.

But then, like you, I started to connect with other bloggers. It has become a most fulfilling experience.

  4. Okay I KNOW the original recipe AND I think this looks just as good if not better. Prettier layout.

I blog because of the friends I've met too.

  5. I was encouraged to begin to blog as a means to promote my book and was amazed at the world it opened up to me. For the most part I feel that I see a true reflection of life through the blogs I read...it isn't always so important but it is our lives pure and simple.

  6. I never in my wild imagination thought that I would be blogging for 4 1/2 years. I started blogging for my family who lives away but this is what I found...I found the love of photography, I'm not a writer, I love traveling the world without even leaving my home, I love seeing what others are up to, and most importantly I've found wonderful blogging friends. I'm glad you're keeping your blog...It doesn't matter how often you blog, I'm just glad you do.
Thanks for sharing the recipe, I'm going to check it out.

  7. Glad to hear that you are going to continue blogging. Take a break if you need to, but make sure to come back.

I started blogging to keep a record of my crafting and to record family history and memories of my travels. I was blogging purely for my own enjoyment. Somewhere along the way, others "found" my blog and liked it enough to stick around, so friendships and connections were made.

Blogging has opened my eyes to my own community. Now, I see something and think, "I need to blog about that." I often schedule posts for an entire week so I am not stressed when things come up unexpectedly.

  8. Blogging helps to keep me sane, I wish I had more time to spend writing and reading. It is a luxury, a gift I offer myself as many times during the week that I can.

The wrap looks so good!!! I need to check my refrigerator to see if I have the makings for dinner this evening.

    Thanks for sharing.... Sandi

  10. I agree ... a blog is your personal space and that's one of the joys of blogging.

I've kept a journal (hard copy) for since the 80's, and I still do that on some level. There's nothing like putting pen to paper. But blogging is sort of the new journal for me. And if anyone enjoys my journal, then that's just icing on the cake. But I do it for myself. It's proof that I exist. :)

  12. Living out in the country -- I don't get to travel much or see other people (besides my husband) for sometimes weeks at a time. I keep in touch with the human race via blogging. Otherwise, I'd be talking to animals all day long (oh, wait -- I do that anyway!)

  14. I'm so glad that you're still blogging, I enjoy reading your blog and traveling with you when you go someplace.

I blog because it makes my heart dance, I am connected with people the world over, it's an excellent way to see the world, to get to know people and the number one reason I blog, it's in my blood now! I started this project 365 on January 1, 2009, I wanted to see if I could take a photo a day for an entire year and here I am still doing it. I've learned a lot about taking photos and I've learned a lot about myself. I end my day with my blog to ensure I've made some "me" time in my day, it helps me stay grounded and I have fun with it. It's funny, there was about 6 family members who started this project, I'm the only one still going strong, I think that one sister finished it with me the first year, she continued for a while after but has let it go now. She designs and sells scrapbooking items online and works so she's got a busy life. She was the only photographer in the family, she's good, really good, at taking photos but I'm learning and feel now I can do nearly as good of work. When she compliments one of my photos I know I've done good!

Have a great day and keep on blogging. ;-)
